COMMUNITY CARE CENTRE
Sambal was a 10 bedded CCC for the people living with and affected by HIV and AIDS, in a 10000 sq yard land in Hathikhera, Ajmer, Rajasthan. It was named ‘Sambal’, Hindi word which translates to “Care and Support” and aimed for ‘helping those in pain, with love’.
Vision of Sambal
Sambal firmly believes that life is God’s greatest gift. Supporting those whose life is threatened is considered a divine act.
Goal of Sambal
To provide the opportunity for dignity, choices and overall quality of life of each resident (PLHA) and their families.
Objectives of Sambal
- To serve as a link between the community and the HIV care and treatment services.
- To help those infected with HIV and AIDS to lead a better life utilizing their personal resources.
- To extend psychosocial and spiritual intervention services to those infected and affected with HIV and AIDS
- To provide rehabilitative services and improve the quality of life of persons living with HIV and AIDS.
- To prevent the occurrence and spread of HIV and AIDS through information support.
Funding and Technical Support were coming from the GFATM- RCC-II, routed through the Population Foundation of India (Principal Recipient) and Hindustan Latex Family Planning Promotion Trust (Sub Recipient). The project was supported by RSACS and NACO-GoI. Sambal CCC had been Rated “A” by the end-line assessment team appointed by the NACO. Phase I was completed successfully and Ajmer was not announced for Phase II by the NACO-GoI.
